Eligible devices: Only AT&T branded, customer owned, Android smartphones and tablets whose firmware can be updated by AT&T may participate in the Service. AT&T will validate eligible devices when they are submitted for management.

FOTA stands for Firmware Over The Air. This is a standard process where device firmware (may also be called device software) is updated usually over Wi-Fi several times a year. The firmware may be a major operating system (OS) update or it may have new device features or bug fixes or security patches. Premium devices will often get updates almost monthly. When the update installs, it will reboot the phone for 5, 10, or 20 minutes.
There is quite a bit of start-up work involved with a new customer so trying it out is not currently possible. However, since there is no long-term contract, your organization can go month by month and cancel at any time.
So long as the device is an AT&T device with an AT&T SIM, our FOTA platform can attempt delivery. Although firmware delivery via Wi-Fi or cellular is zero-rated, it is possible that some countries may charge separately for usage.
Yes, AT&T smartphones and tablets using an AT&T IoT SIM can subscribe to E-FOTA for Android. Industrial IoT devices will not be able to receive the service. For IoT customers, they must comply with the technical conditions required for service.
Historically, services for managing mobile devices are more in the larger business area and these businesses have telecom managers. However, the service is available for small business in the event they need more control of the firmware upgrade process. The lowest dollar plan is most cost effective for customers with over 100 devices.
