Network Functions on Demand

Driving dynamic networking

Software-Defined Networking

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) are industry-standard technologies that make it possible to deploy and manage network functions via software instead of through complex, vendor-specific hardware. Read this white paper to learn how SDN and NFV can enable networks to be programmable and more efficient while reducing operational costs.

Network Function Virtualization

NFV technology provides a simpler alternative to buying, configuring, and testing individual proprietary network appliances. Software instances of these appliances (called virtual network functions or VNFs) can be easily downloaded and deployed in different locations within the network, like data centers or remote offices. To learn how this works with our universal Customer Premises Equipment (uCPE) to reduce complexity and streamline your organization, read the uCPE product brief and the Network Functions on Demand product brief.

Advantages of SDN and NFV

We have the experience and resources to help you design a more flexible, efficient network. With our industry-standard uCPE and AT&T-certified VNFs, you can dramatically speed up your ability to deploy and make changes to your network. Read this brief to find out how.

Our Network Functions on Demand service utilizes SDN and NFV to help you:

  • Quickly deploy, configure, and test new network functions
  • Minimize the time and costs associated with network maintenance
  • Reduce the complexity of network equipment and vendor contracts
  • Streamline operations and simplify network management
  • Easily change your network infrastructure as your business evolves

Network Functions on Demand is designed to integrate with your AT&T Virtual Private Network. It includes:

  • An industry-standard x86, AT&T-branded hardware platform (uCPE) that can support multiple VNFs
  • An ever-growing library of AT&T-certified VNFs
  • AT&T management, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance

Our portfolio of virtual network functions currently offers:

Juniper vSRX and Cisco vCSR – Virtual Routing

Connect your sites with virtual routers from industry leaders and take full advantage of enterprise-grade class of service, IPv4 and IPv6 support, and reporting and monitoring.

Fortinet FortiGate – Virtual Security

Help secure your environment with a virtual firewall that offers best-in-class intrusion prevention, virus protection, and Web filtering.

Riverbed Steelhead – Virtual WAN Acceleration

Optimize your network with a virtual WAN acceleration solution that allows you to enhance delivery of business-critical applications, reduces latency, and improves IT control and visibility.
