IPv6

IPv6: Are you Ready? The time to prepare is now.

IPv6: The Challenge

Global growth of the Internet has been driven by the increased use of computing and communications technology. Mobile equipment, home appliances and other consumer devices are online and interconnected. Each of these devices uses an IP address. The current Internet Protocol (IP) addressing system that Internet devices use - called IPv4 - is predicted to run out of addresses this year. A new protocol, IPv6, has been introduced to provide a virtually limitless address space.

The arrival of IPv6 does introduce a new problem for Internet users - IPv4 is not compatible with IPv6. Any services, applications or connectivity over the public Internet will need to consider integration of IPv6 and IPv6 transition technologies. Basic Internet, web hosting, remote access, mobile workers, and cloud computing all rely on Internet transport to provide services.
