Wikis: What You Need to Know
Executive Summary
A wiki is a database that supports content creation while tracking changes as they’re made. Internal wikis can reduce email and serve as a virtual filing cabinet: a user-friendly storehouse of your business’ collective wisdom. External wikis can enhance the customer experience and reduce telecommunications costs.
Private wikis, open only to designated writers, are good for project management, how-to content and the collaborative production of documents. Public wikis, open to anyone, are good for disseminating general interest material to employees, customers or even potential customers.
