Extend the Benefits of Business VoIP to Satellite Offices

Supporting remote offices with limited IT resources is a common challenge for companies with distributed operations. Your satellite locations require business-class voice services and fast Internet bandwidth delivered at a competitive cost, and without undue complexity.

AT&T Business in a Box® enables voice and data services to work over a single network connection and device. The service can deliver Voice over IP via an AT&T transport solution. Employees in branch offices get the performance they expect generally without investing in expensive equipment or hiring and managing a dedicated IT staff for each location.

It's all included in the box

Simplify your Voice and Data Networking

Business in a Box when used with your AT&T network transport service offers a simple VoIP solution that provides the benefits of advanced voice and data technology without the complexity of managing it.

Business in a Box provides an AT&T managed device which includes the router, VPN termination, LAN switch, on-premises Wi-Fi access point, firewall, analog gateway and outbound voice backup. With Business in a Box:

  • AT&T manages the equipment so you don't have to worry about system maintenance and upgrades
  • You can efficiently combine voice, data, Internet, local voice and long distance, along with built-in firewall protection, VPN network termination and LAN-based Wi-Fi data access when used over an AT&T transport solution
  • Web-based administration makes it easy to add sites, users and features without needing a dedicated staff

Prepare your business for the future

Keeping up with technology change can often be difficult for small businesses and satellite offices. Business in a Box helps move your business forward by:

  • Providing a migration strategy from analog to VoIP
  • Converging voice and data onto a single network connection
  • Sharing and allocating bandwidth to drive efficient utilization

With this solution, voice traffic gets priority; when calls aren't needed (such as overnight), bandwidth can be allocated to data.

Manage your Voice Budget with Business in a Box

Purchasing, installing and maintaining a voice system can be expensive, especially when you have several locations. A simple solution like Business in a Box can help you manage your budget in several ways:

  • Eliminates the need to buy racks of equipment
  • Reduces the need to hire and manage extensive IT staff
  • Consolidates resources by converging voice and data on one T1 line
  • Capitalizes on unused bandwidth by using dynamic bandwidth allocation

Choose your option

Whether you have a key system or IP PBX, or would prefer AT&T to host the solution for you, Business in a Box is available as a data only option or you may choose:

  • Hosted VoIP if you need a fully hosted, cloud-based VoIP solution
  • SIP Trunking for a managed VoIP solution on your premises

Both options provide you with an easy way to support all your office locations with advanced voice services.

Consider

If you're considering a VoIP solution for your business, here are a few things to think about and discuss with your AT&T sales rep:

Do you need a Hosted VoIP or SIP Trunking version of Business in a Box?

This may depend on your current phone system, and whether you want to keep your existing equipment. Most SIP Trunking customers keep their own phone equipment and its associated features. The alternative is Hosted VoIP, where you do not have a PBX and AT&T provides the telephony features and manages the system.

Do you need virtual telephone numbers (VTNs)*?

With VTNs you can assign telephone numbers from your desired area code to any user regardless of where the actual phone or person is physically located. VTNs separate the phone number from its geographic location, allowing a remote employee to provide a local feel to other team members, customers and clients.

What are your network needs?

Are you looking to converge your network? The AT&T Global Network provides the foundation for convergence and seamless communications across your organization. You can access voice services through AT&T Managed Internet Service and some AT&T Virtual Private Network services.

Are you supporting remote workers?

Hosted VoIP can include an option that lets employees work productively from home, in a meeting room, at your customer's location, in a hotel room or at the airport. The option uses a single broadband connection such as AT&T provided DSL. Workers with smartphones can download an app that allows their desk phone and smartphone to ring simultaneously.

What phones will you need?

With Hosted VoIP you'll be able to choose from a variety of feature-rich certified IP phones, IP conference phones, soft phones and analog phone adapters.

Do you have an existing key system infrastructure?

AT&T can deploy a fully configured switch that lets you migrate to a VoIP infrastructure at your own pace. The switch, along with an AT&T managed router, transports both voice and data traffic over the IP network. The switch also provides alternate access to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

*Limitations do apply to Virtual Telephone Numbers. Refer to the AT&T business VoIP Service Guide for more details.
