FibreMAN® Service provides you with a dedicated, point-to-point, full duplex private line connection over optic fiber. FibreMAN service is a fully managed, network-based data storage connection solution that uses Fibre Channel, a highly reliable interconnection protocol, which allows concurrent communications among your workstations, mainframes, servers, data storage systems, and other peripherals.

Our reliable service is fully managed, allowing you to focus on those issues critical to your business.

FibreMAN service is one product in our suite of AT&T PremierSERV^SM Optical Networking Solutions. Like our other AT&T PremierSERV Optical Networking solutions, FibreMAN service is fully supported for design, installation, management, and monitoring of your network.

Availability

FibreMAN service is available throughout the AT&T service areas of AT&T Arkansas, AT&T California, AT&T Connecticut, AT&T Illinois, AT&T Indiana, AT&T Kansas, AT&T Michigan, AT&T Missouri, AT&T Nevada, AT&T Ohio, AT&T Oklahoma, AT&T Texas, and AT&T Wisconsin.

FibreMAN service uses Fibre Channel, a high-speed transmission technology standard. The FibreMAN service connects to your fibre channel switches at speeds up to 1 or 2 gigabits per second (Gbps*).We provide equipment on both ends of dedicated fiber to enable that connection. The interface is standard 'stick and click' (SC) connector on single- or multi-mode fiber connecting to the demarcation point of our wiring at your location.

Options

The following option is available with FibreMAN® Service:

• Route Diversity: offers you loop diversity, alternate wire center diversity, and inter-wire center diversity. You can achieve end-to-end diversity by coupling alternate wire center diversity with inter-wire center diversity.

The following additional services are available for purchase with FibreMAN® Service:

• AT&T Internet Data Center (IDC) Options: offering you services like AT&T PremierSERV^SM Advanced Hosting, AT&T PremierSERV^SM Data Center Hosting and AT&T PremierSERV^SM Dedicated Hosting.

AT&T PremierSERV^SM E-Services Solutions hosting products come with levels of managed service so you can choose the service that best suits your needs. And to continue tailoring the service to fit your unique situation, each hosting service offers you options like automated backup, load balancing, managed firewall, managed monitoring, and storage area networks.

Components

FibreMAN service offers you the following features:

• Transmission rate options: FibreMAN service offers you speeds up to 1 or 2 Gbps.* You can choose the speed that works best for your needs.
• Protocol Flexibility: FibreMAN service transmits your data in a number of different protocols. You may be able to use existing devices to transmit your data rather than having to reformat it to fit a new transmission protocol, saving you time and money.
• OPTera Metro 5100 Multiservice Platform: The OPTera Metro 5100 is made by Nortel Networks. It uses a compact Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) multi-service platform that delivers four protected (eight unprotected) wavelengths. The 5100 provides you with  high connectivity over networks.

*The actual throughput obtained with FibreMAN service is distance sensitive, based on the Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) provided by the customer. FibreMAN service will not be offered with guaranteed throughput thresholds since this is determined by the CPE provided by the customer.

• DecaMAN Service

DecaMAN® Service connects your 10 Gbps Ethernet signal within the same local access and transport area (LATA; this is an intraLATA service) with fiber-optic transport service.
