Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN)

AT&T’s ISDN Primary Rate Interface (PRI) service uses the public telephone network to carry an all-digital signal that can satisfy your company’s voice and data communications needs in the most efficient, flexible way possible.   With PRI service you can:

AT&T offers ISDN Primary Rate Interface service within AT&T's regional service areas, and nationally in select cities.

ISDN PRI is a high-speed digital connection for voice and data between your PBX and the AT&T public switched telephone network.  It consolidates 23 voice or data service channels on one 1.544 Mbps transport line into a PBX or computer network. It simplifies PBX access to many applications, including LAN-to-LAN connectivity and videoconferencing.  When used for trunking, you can improve PBX capacity and can transmit voice, WATS, toll-free and circuit-switched data calls. With dynamic call allocation you can use the same line for different voice or data applications as needed.

  • Any channel can carry any kind of connection, eliminating single-purpose trunks such as Direct Inward Dial (DID), Direct Outward Dial (DOD), and dedicated video or data lines.
  • If data is your main communication need, the inward data option supports analog, digital data calls, and a digital data only option.
  • Carry signaling information over a separate channel and speed up the origination, termination, or any other changes required to process your calls.
  • Allocate more channels to an application in multiples of 64 Kbps.
  • A specialized ISDN-based trunking solution, PrimeConnect PRI is available for applications and locations that receive very high volumes (200,000 to 400,000 minutes per month) of inbound-only traffic.
